We all think we know when we are stressed, and the true part of this is, we only know when we are stressed out. Very few of us know stress at the onset, so that we can derail it and/or minimize it.
This article is going to be about the changes and/or the affects stress has on different parts of the body, and I want this to open your eyes to see what we put out bodies thru when we get stressed out.
Did you know that stressful and negative outlook can harm your brain, take for instance the war vets, being in prolonged emotional distress which can lead to memory problems, well it has been proven that emotional distress caused by stress and worry can increase your risk of memory impairment by as much as 40 percent. Even the fact of having thoughts on a regular basis (and/or consistently) that things will not turn out well is included in this statistic. The practice of positive thoughts is truly a statement for your health.
It has been stated that two thirds of us visit the doctors office each year for stress related issues, and it is now being studied and proven that the physical changes associated with stress may contribute to the leading causes of death – heart disease and cancer. The great (or sad) part of this, is that stress is within our power to change and reverse.
Here are some of the effects of stress:-Stress can cause headaches, digestive upsets, back pain, chronic fatigue
-Stress can affect the blood cells that help us fight infection, this includes colds and other sicknesses
-Stress can increase the blood pressure and increase the risk of stroke
-Stress can increase the risk of heart attacks, especially if you are often angry and non-trustful
-Stress can make an asthma attack worse
-Stress can trigger behaviors that can contribute to death and disability, such as overeating, smoking, alcoholism and drug abuse
The beautiful part of this is, that there is help and it doesn’t have to be with medication which just creates more side effects, it can be with a healthy, productive, centered lifestyle which implements in it stress management exercise, diet and lifestyle. Basically put taking care of ourselves.
Here is a book that covers this exact topic and I highly recommend you read it and follow it, and even if you aren’t in a chronic stress condition, whatever condition you are in it will improve your life.
